Call for Papers - Pricing Models in the GILT Industry

Issue 5 (April/May, 2013) of The Big Wave will focus on “Pricing Models in the GILT Industry.

Pricing models influence customers and competition, thus revenues, profits and business at large. However, determining the most appropriate pricing model is tricky and takes considerable research, planning and testing.

The pricing model is linked to the revenue model and the business model, and all are elements of an overall strategy and business plan. Getting them right is essential to succeed. The pricing model must be appropriate for the markets and customers targeted, but it is limited by the pricing models adopted by competitors, as well as by their revenue and business models.

Most translation companies compete on the basis of price, with little or no differentiation. However, customers don’t make their purchase decisions based solely on price. They select the best value for themselves. Competition is therefore based on lowering costs and expanding the existing market by targeting a different class or type of customers and by focusing on increasing customers’ perceived value of products and/or services.

The goal of Issue 5 of The Big Wave is to share views and experiences on the development of a pricing model for the GILT (Globalization, Internationalization, Localization, and Translation) industry.

Papers should address design, development, and implementation of innovative pricing models to dispel confusion and increase knowledge on pricing in the translation industry.

Authors wishing to contribute to Issue 5 of The Big Wave are welcome to submit their abstracts as email attachments to editor@thebigwave.it.
